Leica MP black paint rangefinder camera body and Leicavit. This camera was held in a private collection in France until.

When the camera was acquired by the collector in France, it was heavily worn as it was completely original. The camera was sent to Leica Germany for a full restoration. The original parts were repainted and not replaced, including the top plate and Leicavit housing. As the original engravings became flat after the repaint, they were re-engraved over the original engravings. The strap lugs, vulcanite, some of the knobs and levers were replaced with original spare parts. Additionally the shutter crate was verified as being an original 1956 MP shutter crate. The camera was used as a shooter, hence the wear and brassing it currently shows. Original Leica MP cameras were manufactured in 1956 and 1957.

A total of 311 cameras where produced. Only 138 units were finished in black paint. This is one of the rarest and most collectible cameras in the world. It would make a fine addition to any collection. The item pictured is the actual item for sale.
