Vintage Leica M4 Black Paint rangefinder camera. Serial Number 1246 797 made 1969. The camera has been completely serviced by renowned Leica expert Malcolm Taylor in 2018.
It works perfectly and is very smooth and quiet. The viewfinder is bright and spotless. There is not much more to say, a vintage Leica that has been attended to by Malcolm is a wonder to use.You soon realise how smooth and unobtrusive these cameras really are.. Cosmetically the camera is in beautiful condition and 100% honest.
The finish is bright and full and has a wonderful patina to it. The camera shows moderate brassing to the corners and edges as is typical with a black paint Leica, it has no heavy dents or knocks but has picked up a very light "bruise" to the rounded side of the base plate near the open close catch, the catch and base work and attach perfectly and it's not really noticeable and is in keeping with the overall condition, it is mentioned for honesty... The vulcanite covering is clean, complete and very well adhered! At some time in its life the collar that surrounds the shutter release has been changed from silver to black, it was like this when I bought it and personally I prefer it but please do look at the pictures as with any black paint Leica they make up part of the description. When I collected the camera from Malcolm he commented on its "super" condition. I've owned it for a few years, I've shot with it but I don't really use it these days, times change and I think it should go to a new home. If you would like any more information then please do get in touch, I'm more than happy to chat it over, don't be afraid to make a sensible offer..
